Some news about Electoral Reform in the Yukon.
A far less grandiose promise was made in the 2016 Election by the eventual winner Sandy Silver, wherein the government would legislate fixed election dates and “strike a non-partisan Commission on Electoral Reform to consult Yukoners on possible options for territorial electoral reform”.
Though a more vague promise that his Federal counterparts, it appears that the Yukon Liberals are following a similar path. The Liberals would prefer to have the non-partisan commission guided by multiple parties. The Yukon Party and the NDP claim they’re being left out of the process.
