CBC Radio Canada put together a really impressive interactive piece showing how Proportional Representation (PR) would have shaped the results of the 2019 Canadian Federal Election. The show how the seats would have been distributed in pure PR, Mixed-Member Non-Compensatory System (Parallel Voting), and a Mixed-Member Compensatory System.
The results show what we, who are in favour of PR, are looking for. All parties are more accurately represented proportionately. There’s some variance due to the specifics of the different PR systems, but all in all it’s a much more closely aligned to what the popular vote shows.
It’s really well done and an excellent interactive piece. Please do check it out HERE
